Tony Mandola's Press
After 22 years leasing a space, power couple Tony Mandola and Phyllis Laurenzo are moving their Tony Mandola’s (1212 Waugh Dr., 713.528.3474) this month. “We own the property,” says Mandola. “It’s kind of like buying a new car: You’re so proud it’s yours.” Larger than the old spot, the space is tiled in glass and marble in colors like red, black and copper. There’s also a large bar. But Mandola assures loyalists that many menu items remain. Expect the classic blackened red snapper with oysters, shrimp, and sautéed crabmeat—and new dishes like pizzas with shrimp and clams.
